Poultry Development Project Officially Launched at the Diocesan Office!Ektus, June 13, 2026 (Sene 6, 2018 E.C.)Building on the experiences successfully implemented previously at the Dilla Debre Genet Holy Michael Church and the Andida Boarding Traditional Church School (Abinet School), the Diocese of Gedeo, Kore, and Burji has today purchased broiler chicks to launch the project within the diocesan office compound. This initiative strengthens the Church’s efforts to become self-reliant alongside its spiritual services. In order to manage this development work with quality and success, the Diocese has spent the past few days constructing modern poultry housing based on specialized studies. It was stated that this preparation was undertaken to ensure the safety (welfare) of the chickens and to guarantee their productivity. In the presence of His Grace Abune Gerima, Bishop of the Gedeo, Kore, and Burji Diocese and Member of the Holy Synod, the Diocese purchased nine hundred and five (905) chickens for the prepared modern shelter. The primary objective of this project is to inspire and encourage all parishes under the Diocese to actively participate in various development activities in their respective areas, using the Diocese’s exemplary approach, operational methods, and study experiences as a reference. Furthermore, it aims to enable them to break away from reliance on alms (offering box/charity) and become self-sufficient in income.
