Ichthus Dilla, February 11, 2026 (Yekatit 4, 2018 EC)
Following the conclusion of the capacity-building training in the Diocese of Gedeo, Kore, and Burji, a high-level delegation from the Patriarchate General Secretariat, led by His Grace Abune Gerima, Bishop of the Diocese, conducted a field visit to various development projects at the Dilla Debre Selam St. Urael Church.
During the visit, the delegation toured several integrated initiatives within the church premises, including:
- The Bakery Service: Providing essential food products to the community.
- Agricultural Developments: Coffee plantations, orange and papaya orchards.
- Beekeeping: Modern apiculture production.
It was noted that these development projects demonstrate the parish’s commitment to self-sufficiency, enabling it to support its spiritual missions independently while creating job opportunities for the local community.
The delegation praised the parish for its dual focus on spiritual ministry and socio-economic development, describing it as an exemplary model for other cathedrals and monasteries across various dioceses. Furthermore, they commended the projects’ role in strengthening the Church’s financial capacity and their significant contribution to environmental conservation in the region.
